I went overboard with the prototype. Paring it back for clarity and simplicity.

Question

Numbers invite gaming, so can a weighted score with an evidence gate still keep prioritization balanced and focused on what matters?

Data

Made-up sample problems with illustrative scores. No real customer or employer data.

I wrote it. It began as scenarios from a hiring exercise, and I replaced them with imaginary ones because they weren't mine to publish.

No real names, accounts, or figures.

What I did

  1. Started with a scoring model I'd already used in the past, and used Excel to do it. I applied weighted factors, with evidence strength acting as both a score and a gate.
  2. While preparing for a final-round interview, decided to show the model working instead of describing it.
  3. Dropped the real scenarios for imaginary ones and sketched a wireframe first.
  4. Built it as an interactive page. It picked up extras along the way: an adjustable evidence floor, a "Held" state, a hand-placed cutline, a spec step before scoring, and Now/Next/Later buckets.
  5. Now cutting it back because it got noisy. Reminder to self: exercise restraint always
